Slide & Barrel Porting

Precision CNC porting that actually does something. Redirect propellant gas, kill muzzle flip, tame recoil. Slide-only $70, barrel-only $70, or both for $120.

~20% Felt Recoil Reduction

On full-power defensive loads

7-Business-Day Turnaround

From slide receipt to shipped-back

Zero Reliability Impact

Cycling, lockup, headspace unaffected

Three porting configurations

Slide Only

$70

Ports cut into the top of the slide forward of the chamber. Visible from above, contributes to muzzle-flip control. Best for cosmetic-focused builds.

Slide + Barrel

$120

Both barrel and slide ported. Ports align so gas exits cleanly through both. Maximum recoil and muzzle-flip reduction. Most-popular configuration.

Barrel Only

$70

Ports cut into the barrel only. More functional than slide-only because gas exits at peak pressure. Slide remains stock visually.

All three options are available standalone or as add-ons to an optic cut order. If you're ordering both, ship the slide and barrel together.

What's included

  • Precision CNC ports — symmetrical, deburred, cleanly finished
  • Compatible with all common Glock, Sig, S&W, CZ, and 1911 platforms
  • No effect on chamber pressure, lockup geometry, or factory fitment
  • Compatible with stock recoil springs (no buffer or spring change required)
  • Prepaid USPS inbound shipping label
  • Lifetime workmanship warranty on the porting itself

Slide & barrel porting — frequently asked questions

Does porting actually reduce recoil?
Yes — but with a caveat. Porting redirects a portion of the propellant gas upward through the ports, applying downward force on the slide as it cycles. Felt recoil drops noticeably (most shooters describe it as a 15-25% reduction), and muzzle flip drops more dramatically because the gas vector is angled to counteract upward rotation. The caveat: the effect is more pronounced on full-power loads with slow-burning powder. Light target loads see less benefit because there's less gas to redirect.
Will porting affect reliability?
No. We've ported hundreds of slides and barrels with zero reliability impact. The ports are positioned forward of the slide's locking lugs and don't intersect with any structural feature. Cycling, lockup, and headspace are all unaffected. The only operational change is slightly more flash visible to the shooter at night — the redirected gas burns off above the muzzle.
Is porting legal everywhere?
Federally, yes — porting is just machining and doesn't change the firearm's classification. State laws vary on cosmetic / 'assault weapon' definitions in places like CA, NY, NJ, and MA, where any modification to a registered handgun can have implications. We don't ship ported slides into states with restrictive cosmetic laws unless you confirm your specific firearm and configuration are legal at your address. When in doubt, check your state AG's office or a local FFL.
Slide-only, barrel-only, or both?
Slide-only ($70) ports the top of the slide — visible from above, contributes to muzzle-flip reduction. Barrel-only ($70) ports the barrel itself — the more functional choice because the gas exits closer to the chamber pressure peak. Both ($120) gets you the full benefit and the most aggressive look. Most performance-minded customers choose both; most cosmetic-minded customers choose slide-only.
Do I need a special holster after porting?
Generally no — the ports are above the trigger guard and don't interfere with standard kydex holsters. The only consideration is appendix carry: if your holster's body shield extends above the ejection port, hot gas can vent against your skin. Open-top or shorter-shield holsters solve this. Test fit your existing holster before relying on it for daily carry.
How long does it take?
7 business days from when we receive your slide and/or barrel to when we ship it back. We send a prepaid USPS Ground Advantage label as soon as you order. Total door-to-door is typically 10–14 calendar days.
