3 Optics, 1 Cut

ACRO + ROMEO2 + 509T compatible

Why ACRO is the duty-grade choice

Aimpoint built the ACRO around the failure mode that kills open-emitter pistol red dots in real-world use: lint, sweat, sunscreen, and debris that builds up between the emitter and the lens. On an open-emitter optic, that gunk can occlude the dot mid-draw — and you don't know until you press the trigger. On the ACRO, the LED lives behind a sealed window. Same dust gets on the outside of the window, but the dot is unaffected.

The ACRO P-2 carries that reliability story further: 50,000-hour battery life (vs. the P-1's 15,000), brighter daylight settings for outdoor work, improved thermal stability for cold-weather and hot-vehicle conditions, and a stronger housing that survives drops onto the optic itself. Aimpoint specifically markets the P-2 as the choice when failure isn't an option — duty, defensive carry, or hard-use range work.

And because the ACRO footprint is shared with the Sig ROMEO2 and Holosun 509T, you're not locked in. Run the ACRO when you want the most-proven option, swap to the ROMEO2 if Sig rebates apply, or drop in a 509T at the value end of the spectrum. One cut, three optic paths.

What's included in an ACRO cut

  • Precision CNC mill for the ACRO footprint, dry-machined to 0.0005" tolerance
  • Threaded mounting holes spec'd to Aimpoint's torque pattern (T10 Torx)
  • Sealed perimeter — critical for enclosed-emitter optics like the ACRO and 509T
  • Direct-to-slide cut — no plate, no adapter, no spacer
  • Compatible with all three ACRO-footprint optics: ACRO P-1/P-2, ROMEO2, Holosun 509T
  • Rear-sight retention by default; suppressor-height install or relocation available
  • Prepaid USPS inbound shipping label
  • Free one-color Cerakote refinish if you want it
  • Lifetime workmanship warranty on the cut

ACRO P2 cut — frequently asked questions

What's the ACRO footprint and what optics fit it?
The ACRO (Advanced Compact Reflex Optic) footprint is Aimpoint's mounting pattern for their pistol red dot. The Aimpoint ACRO P-1 and P-2 are the namesake optics, but the same screw spacing and locating geometry is shared by the Sig ROMEO2 (which Sig markets as the ACRO-pattern optic on their X-series pistols) and the Holosun 509T. So one ACRO cut gives you three optic options across two manufacturers without changing the slide.
P-1 vs P-2 — which Aimpoint should I get?
Same footprint, same cut. The P-2 is the newer generation with significantly improved battery life (50,000 hours vs the P-1's 15,000), brighter daylight settings, and improved resistance to thermal swing. If you're buying a new ACRO, get the P-2 — there's no price advantage to the P-1 anymore. If you've already got a P-1 and want to mill a slide for it, that's totally fine: any P-2-spec cut works for the P-1 unchanged.
Why an enclosed-emitter optic over an open-emitter like the RMR?
Enclosed-emitter optics — ACRO, EPS, 509T — house the LED behind a fully-sealed window. Open-emitter optics — RMR, 507c, DPP — leave the emitter exposed to lint, sweat, dust, and shotgun-shell debris that can occlude the dot mid-fight. For carry, duty, or any context where the gun lives in a holster against your body, enclosed is the more reliable choice. Open-emitter is fine for range-only or competition guns where dust isn't a concern.
Will the ACRO sit too high on my slide?
The ACRO is a taller optic than an RMR or Holosun 507c, but the height is measured from the slide deck up — the cut depth itself is similar. With factory iron sights, you won't get a co-witness through the ACRO window. With suppressor-height sights (Glock MOS XS Big Dot, Sig X-Carry, etc.) you'll get a clean lower-1/3 co-witness. We can install suppressor-height sights at the same time as the cut if you don't already have them.
Can my existing RMR-cut slide be milled for ACRO?
Sometimes — depends on your existing cut depth and slide thickness. The ACRO footprint is wider than the RMR, so we'd need to widen and re-shape the existing pocket. Most G19/G45/Sig X-Carry slides have enough material for a successful conversion. Send a photo of your existing cut before ordering and we'll confirm.
Is the cut sealed for the ACRO's enclosed window?
Yes — that's actually the whole point of cutting for an enclosed-emitter optic. We mill to a 0.0005" tolerance with a precision-honed perimeter so the ACRO body mates flush to the slide deck with no gap. Combined with the optic's built-in window seal, the cut maintains the ACRO's IP67 dust/water rating once mounted.
