Why direct-mount beats the MOS plate

Glock's factory MOS system uses an interchangeable adapter plate between the slide and your optic. It's flexible — one slide accepts a dozen different optics — but flexibility comes at a cost. The plate adds a second mating surface, and that surface is the most common failure point on optic-equipped Glocks.

After 300–500 rounds, the plate-to-slide screws back out under recoil. Your optic develops detectable wobble. Your zero shifts a few clicks per range trip. Re-torquing the screws helps for another 200 rounds. Eventually you Loctite them and pretend the problem is solved.

A direct-mount cut removes the plate entirely. Your optic mounts to the slide on its own footprint — RMR, ACRO, Holosun, whatever you've got — with the same screws and torque spec the optic manufacturer designed for. One mating surface, no wobble, zero stays put. We can do this on a brand-new MOS slide just as easily as on a non-MOS slide.

Glock optic cut — frequently asked questions

Which Glock models can you cut?
All of them. Gen 1 through Gen 5, including G17, G19, G19X, G22, G23, G26, G27, G29, G30, G31, G32, G33, G34, G35, G42, G43, G43X, G45, G47, G48, and the G19 MOS / G34 MOS lines. Slim-frame Glocks (G43X, G48) typically use the RMSc footprint; full-size and compact slides accept RMR, Holosun 507c, ACRO, DPP, or MOS-pattern cuts.
I already have a MOS slide. Can you mill it for a direct-mount cut?
Yes. Glock's MOS plate system is convenient but the plates are the most common failure point — wobble develops after a few hundred rounds and your zero shifts. We can re-cut a MOS slide for direct-mount RMR, Holosun, or ACRO so the optic bolts straight to the slide and your zero stays put. The MOS plate hardware just gets removed.
What about my factory rear sight?
Most Glock optic cuts retain the factory rear sight in its original location. If you want a suppressor-height rear sight installed at the same time, or you want the rear sight relocated forward of the optic for a co-witness setup, both are available — note it on your order.
Does this affect the slide's hardness or coating?
No. We mill cold (no heat-affected zone) and we don't touch the factory nitride finish on the rest of the slide. The freshly-exposed steel inside the optic cut is sealed by the optic body when mounted; we do not Cerakote the inside of the cut by default. If you want the entire slide refinished after cutting, our Cerakote service starts at $135 in addition to the cut.
How long does shipping take?
Inbound (you to us) is whatever USPS rate you choose — typically 2–4 business days with the prepaid Ground Advantage label we provide. Milling is 7 business days from receipt. Outbound (us to you) is 2–3 business days via USPS Priority. Total door-to-door is usually 10–14 calendar days.
Can I send a brand-new factory slide that's never been fired?
Yes — many of our customers do. Cutting a factory-fresh slide is actually our preferred starting point because there's no holster wear or carry marks to work around. Just drop the slide off your frame, send it to us, and we'll handle the rest.
